12 DAYS GORILLAS, CHIMPS, CULTURAL EXPERIENCES AND WILDLIFE SAFARI
The 9 days Uganda safari will give you a chance to experience the Gorillas, Chimps, savannah wildlife like buffaloes, elephants, antelopes plus the big wild cats like lions, leopards, hyenas among others, cultural experiences and the scenic nature of Uganda as we also visit the Bunyonyi islands for leisure and relaxation.
DAY 1. 28 JULY- ARRIVAL AT ENTEBBE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT.
Your guide will pick you from Entebbe international airport and transfer you to the hotel in Kampala for relaxing while getting the cool breathes from Lake Victoria. You will enjoy the night as you get ready for safari the next day. OVERNIGHT AT VICTORIA GUEST HOUSE
DAY 2. 29 JULY- TRANSFER TO MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK VIA THE ZIWA RHINO SANCTUARY.
Have a morning breakfast and after transfer to Murchison falls national park. On our way we shall visit the Ziwa Rhino sanctuary located in Nakasongola district 176km north of Kampala for rhino trekking. The Ziwa rhino Sanctuary is only place where you will be able to see rhinos in the wild with almost 32 white rhinos. Have lunch on the way and then continue with the journey to the lodge. DAY 3. 30 JULY- MORNING GAME DRIVE IN THE MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK AND AFTERNOON BOAT CRUISE AT THE BASE OF THE FALLS.
Wake up early for breakfast and then your guide will take you for the morning game drive through the routes of the park most especially in the northern banks of the park where a high concentration of wildlife species can be seen like the big five animals namely elephants, buffaloes, leopards, lions, warthogs, through the major routes of the park like the Buligi track, Albert and Victoria tracks. Other wildlife species in the park include hartebeest, jackals, hyenas, waterbucks, hippos, oribis among others. There is also a variety of bird species like the cuckoos, storks, sterlings, barbets among others. After the game drive we head back to the lodge for lunch and then after lunch go for 3 hour boat cruise to the bottom of the falls sailing towards the falls where you will be able to see schools of hippos floating on water, herds of buffaloes, elephants on river banks, oribis, crocodiles and a variety of water bird species and then after you will go off from the boat and then hike to the top of the falls for the magnificent views where your driver guide will pick you and take you back to the lodge to rest and have dinner. DAY 4. 31 JULY.TRANSFER TO KIBALE FOREST NATIONAL PARK FOR CHIMP TREKKING.
After breakfast we depart for 7 hour drive to Kibale national park ‘the home of chimpanzee’. We hope that you had an exciting moment in Murchison falls national park. Kibale forest is a home to 13 species of primates with the main attraction being chimpanzee tracking among other activities. On your way to kibale national park, you will have stunning views as you pass small villages, local markets and several bird lives. You will have lunch in a town and arrive at your lodge later that evening ready for tracking tomorrow. OVERNIGHT AT ISUNGA LODGE.
Day 5. 1st AUGUST. CHIMPANZEE TREKKING IN KIBALE FOREST NATIONAL PARK.
After breakfast, your driver guide will transfer you to Kanyanchu visitor center at 8am for briefing before going for trekking. Chimpanzee trekking is done by those with 15 years and above. After briefing you will be divided into groups led by a ranger guide and then enter the forest to start tracking. You will be allowed to spend one hour with the chimps as you observe them swing from one tree to another, feed, play. You will also be able to see other primates like black and white colobus, red tailed monkey etc. And after the trek your driver guide will pick you and take you back to the hotel. You can either decide to relax at the lodge or go for a walk to the Bigodi swamp. OVERNIGHT AT ISUNGA LODGE.
DAY 6. 2ND AUGUST. TRANSFER TO RWENZORI MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK.
After breakfast, you will transfer to Rwenzori mountains national park. The journey is about 4 hours through hilly areas of Rwenzori which gives you a chance to see the stunning beautiful sceneries as you head to the lodge for lunch. Relax at the lodge as you wait for a whole day hike on the mountains of Rwenzori the next day. OVERNIGHT AT OMUKA KIIZA REST CAMP
DAY 7. 3RD AUGUST. ONE DAY RWENZORI HIKE.
This one day Rwenzori hike is perfect for those visiting Queen Elizabeth national park and have an extra day to spare in the Rwenzori mountains. One day Rwenzori hike takes you through the montane forest with thick trees harboring a variety of primates and birds. You will get stopovers at the rest spots until you hike to the top of nyamwamba where you get to see the beautiful forests along the river and have a look at the water birds. Later you will descend the mountain and return to the starting point and then go back to the lodge to rest. OVERNIGHT AT OMUKA KIIZA REST CAMP.
DAY 8. 4TH AUGUST. TRANSFER TO QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK FOR GAME DRIVE AND BOAT CRUISE.
After breakfast, you will travel to Queen Elizabeth national park. You will take on a short game drive along the Kasenyi plains to see the buffaloes, elephants, antelopes, warthogs and on a lucky you can see the lions and later continue to the lodge for lunch. After lunch, go a 2-hour boat ride on the Kazinga channel where you will be able to see more hippos yawning than you ever seen before, elephant at the banks, crocodile and a plenty of water birds. After the cruise head back to the lodge to relax. OVERNIGHT AT PUMBA SAFARI COTTAGES.
DAY 9. 5THAUGUST. CHIMPANZEE TREKKING IN KALINZU FOREST.
After breakfast, go for a morning phase of chimp trekking in Kalinzu forest that starts at 8am. The trekking starts with briefing at the headquarters in the park where you are taught the dos and don’ts. The trekkers must be 13 years and above and they are grouped according to physical fitness with the ranger guide allocated to each group. It takes 3-4 hours before you meet the chimpanzee, you will also be able to see other primates like black and white colobus and a variety of bird species. After the trek head back to the lodge, you can relax at the lodge or go for a community walk around the villages.
OVERNIGHT AT PUMBA SAFARI COTTAGES
DAY 10. 6TH AUGUST. GAME DRIVE IN THE ISHASHA SECTOR AND TRANSFER TO BWINDI IMPENETRABLE NATIONAL PARK.
After breakfast, depart to Ishasha, the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth NP known for tree-climbing lions. Here you go for a game-drive to see topis, buffaloes, elephants and hopefully lions high in the fig-tree branches. After the game-drive we continue on to the mountains of Bwindi. This journey offers stunning views as we transfer from a landscape of savanna, via cultivated hills to the forest covered mountains of Bwindi. (If we reach early we can do a walk and mix with the locals). OVERNIGHT AT BUHOMA COMMUNITY CAMP
DAY 11. 7THAUGUST. GORILLA TREKKING IN BWINDI IMPENETRABLE NATIONAL PARK AND TRANSFER TO BUNYONYI.
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is the home to the forest giants that are cousins to human beings, the gorillas, and here you will have the highlight of gorilla trekking. In the morning you head into the jungle in a group with a specialized guide and trek up to the point where the gorillas are. You then get to spend one hour with these gentle giants. This Impenetrable Forest is as well full of birds, butterfly and plant species plus forest hog, forest elephants, statungas and dikers. After the trek your guide picks you and make the drive to Lake Bunyonyi, which offers beautiful scenic nature and a chance for a swim (safe here since there is no bilharzia). DAY 12. 8THAUGUST. TRANSFER TO ENTEBBE.
After breakfast, you drive to Entebbe making a stopover at the Equator for photography and lunch as you continue to Entebbe for flight.
